Federal Compliance and Consumer Protection

Required by law for consumer protection on used vehicles, this form is overseen by the Federal Trade Commission and must be prominently displayed on a vehicle's window while it sits in dealer inventory. Its sole purpose is to disclose what warranties, if any, are included with the purchase. Note that some states prohibit "As-Is" sales. A "used vehicle" is defined by the FTC as any vehicle previously registered or previously used, including new vehicle rollbacks and unlicensed demonstrators. Vehicles exceeding 6,000 lbs. unladen weight, such as motorhomes and heavier-duty trucks, are exempt from Buyers Guide regulations.
